Bad Obstetric History
The term ‘Bad Obstetric History or BOH’ is applied to mothers in whom a previous poor pregnancy outcome is likely to have a bearing on the prognosis of her present pregnancy
The Habitual Abortion (HA) is defined as the emergence of a number of at least three consecutive spontaneous abortions
Habitual abortion affects 1-3 % of fertile couples !!
BOH : What Causes it ??
BOH
• The first recommendation in evaluation of couples presenting with Habitual Abortion is to make a Karyotype Analysis of parents & aborted fetus
• In order to exclude some endocrine causes it is recommended to test the level of prolactin, of TSH and of anti-thyroid antibodies.
• Immunological causes should be considered in women with previous pregnancies complicated by unexplained fetal wastage.
• All antenatal cases with BOH should be routinely screened for TORCH
